Medicover has been operating In the Czech Republic since 2001 following its purchase of První pražská zdravotní, s.r.o.
Bengt Beckmann founded Medicover, initially named ABC Medicover. He was a founder of the Africa Air Rescue Health Services, which using to provide medical services in Africa. At the beginning ABC provided only ambulant services, which had been improved over time to full 24 hours hot line system. Then personal visits and hospital care came along together with base health care, maternity care and planning mother & childcare and educational programs for member.
