Medicover and Health Funds

Medical services of Medicover can also be rendered through any affiliated health funds. Beside the services of Medicover, health funds can cost-efficiently finance pharmaceutical expenses, sporting goods, and sporting as well as other private medical attendance. Our preferential health fund partner is Aranykor Health Fund established in October 2005, which, with the assistance of Medicover’s professional background, provides organisation of a wide range of exceptional services for its Clients, from screening programmes through out-patient services up to hospitalisation.

What is a Health Fund?

  • Health Fund - according to the definition of the law in effect – is such an establishment that organises and finances services aimed at health care and health preservation.
  • The most significant element of Health Funds’ popularities is that the range of services that can be financed through them is extremely wide, ranging from preventive to recreational medical services.

Historical background

  • In Hungary, Health Funds can be founded since 1993, from the parliamentary approval of the Act on Voluntary Funds.
  • The original aim of the Act was to supplement and substitute services provided by the public social security system.
  • The growing popularity of health funds interconnects with the present state of the public health reform as well as with the changes in the taxation system.
