Sanitary and epidemiological tests

The employer is under a legal obligation to ensure that employees who come into contact with food hold a “Medical certificate based on the examination conducted for sanitary and epidemiological purposes”.

Examination procedure

  • For employees referred to a sanitary and epidemiological test, the Employer issues an “Application for a sanitary and epidemiological test to the Medicover Centre”.
  • The employee makes an appointment on the phone to visit the Medicover Centre (when making the appointment, the employee should mention that he/she will undergo sanitary and epidemiological tests).
  • The employee brings the completed “Application for a sanitary and epidemiological test to Medicover Centre” for the visit to the Occupational Medicine specialist.
  • The physician refers the patient to the necessary tests on the basis of the information contained in the application.
  • Following the completion of all the tests ordered, the Occupational Medicine specialist issues two copies of a certificate. One copy is sent to the employer by registered mail. The second is collected personally by the employee from the reception desk of the Medicover Centre at which the test was performed.
  • The employer/employee can appeal against the contents of the certificate within seven days from receipt.
