Diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is a serious and frequent problem among women. According to the statistics, up to 25% of women in reproductive age and twice more women in perimenopausal period are complaining of this affliction. In Poland, this percentage translated into almost 4 million people.

Such factors as family predisposition, natural childbirths, overweight, constipation, too intensive physical activity can contribute to development of urinary incontinence.

Women are often ashamed to admit (even to their doctors) that they are suffering from  problems with urinary continence. Some of them think that such symptoms are normal – in consequence, they are not seeking help. It is wrong as in most cases urinary incontinence can be successfully treated.

What do we offer to our patients?

An urodynamic laboratory is located at the Medicover Hospital. Our patients can may use it for comprehensive diagnostics of urinary incontinence.

The scheme of diagnostics and treatment includes i.e. an urodynamic test, behavioural and physico-therapeutic therapy, biofeedback, and surgical treatment.

Surgical procedures

If the conservative treatment does not result in desirable clinical improvement, it becomes necessary to perform a surgical procedure. At the Medicover Hospital such operations are performed with the latest surgical techniques. We have a possibility of performing the procedure without cutting the abdominal wall – but through the perineal approach. Such procedure is minimally invasive, and shows very satisfactory results.

The uniqueness of our offer is based on a coherent system of care of patients who are suffering from discomfort connected of lowering of the uterus and urinary incontinence. Other offers available on the market include just diagnostics or just surgical treatment. In our programme, the patient’s health is monitored and the treatment options (both conservative and surgical) are selected appropriately. Moreover, the whole procedure is performed in one place by a dedicated team of experienced doctors.
